Just over three years after joining us, despite a global pandemic and all the other curve balls that life can throw at you - Gunjan Katyal defended her PhD thesis in a 'live' in person viva voce exam. Her examiners Richard Porter from Trinity College Dublin and our very own Catrin Rutland carefully discussed Gunjan's research with her on the 3rd February 2022 and were satisfied that she meets the requirements for a PhD! What a great day it was and we celebrated all evening. Gunjan is going on to a Senior Bioinformation position with Cancer Research UK in Cambridge. They are lucky to have her!
Lisa Chakrabarti is Professor of Mitochondrial Biology at the University of Nottingham. Her interdisciplinary research examines how mitochondrial function shapes health, disease and adaptation, with particular interests in ageing, neurodegeneration, cellular metabolism and organisms living in extreme environments.
